4x6 vs A4 shipping labels: which should you print?
Compare 4x6 inch thermal labels and A4 sheets for online sellers, with cost and speed differences.
The short answer
If you ship more than a handful of parcels a day, a 4 x 6 inch thermal label is faster and cheaper per parcel. A4 works when you only ship occasionally and already own an office printer.
Thermal 4 x 6
- No ink or toner, only the roll.
- One label per print, no cutting.
- Needs a thermal printer, which is an upfront cost.
A4 sheet
- Works on any printer.
- You cut or fold the sheet by hand.
- Uses more paper and is slower for large batches.
Getting a 4 x 6 file
Marketplace downloads are not always 4 x 6. A label crop tool can cut the label out and centre it on a 4 x 6 page so the printer accepts it.
